Warning: RL post!

Long night yesterday and day today. Two shows last night (sorry no pictures, was lagging too bad) then off to homework….

Started my huge lab report for genetics that was due today around 12:30am. Gave up on it around 1:30am and started doing genetics homework. Gave up on that at 2:30am and passed out because I was nauseous and absolutely exhausted. Of course I couldn’t sleep, and when I was, I had the most messed up dreams.

My hand was also KILLING me yesterday so I couldn’t do much. Could barely take notes during class or do hw or type. It was teh suck.

Today was just massively busy. Got up, breakfast, went online for a bit after breakfast because I was running super early, then genetics recitation, then off for 2 hours to finish lab report, then genetics lab, then back to the dorm to pack at lightning speed, then to clean and pack my car, then home.

*takes a breath*

I’m so tired. It’s only 10pm and I think I’ll be going to bed soon. I’ve been really sleep deprived the past few days with everything going on. Luckily I can sleep in tomorrow

Was supposed to have two shows tonight but Vie canceled them.

Ok, I think that’s it for now.

Night all, time to pass out or collapse or something.

Past two days have been interesting.. very ping-pong like… up and down and up and down!

Had a show last night at Gia’s. Was a pretty good place minus some few disturbances, but talked to the owner about that! Let’s just say it had to do with some gestures Other than that my lips are sealed because I said I wouldn’t say anything. Was a nice place though- worth checking out. They do live events every Wednesday at 6pm. Stop by and check them out!

One uberly awesome thing happened last night! After getting kicked out of Smallville Village etc, Danni kept our huge plot and ever since hasn’t known what to do with it. Well, the sim got sold and moved, and name changed to Whippersnapper and ban list got wiped. SO we moved back in last night Danni and I set up the house and yard for the  most part! It’s soooooo nice to be back!! I also never realized how huge the plot was because when we were on it before I had like a moat around it and Danni got rid of it… it’s like cartwheel heaven!

Then some bad news. Kylie (my SL mom) came on last night and told me she didn’t know when she was going home.. she was in the hospital again. Those of you knowing me and knowing her conditions know that I immediately freaked out. Well, she isn’t in there for the leukemia or anything. Last night she had a seizure while driving (only the second one she’s ever had, the first one was way back when she was on chemotherapy) and wrapped her tahoe around a tree. Luckily, none of her kids were in the car and she is alive and safe. She had back surgery this morning and is doing better. The one bad thing is that she has no feeling from her waist down, and if the feeling doesn’t come back within 48 hours it’s going to most likely be permanent. This, of course, sucks, but I’m just happy she’s alive.

This is the 3rd time she’s escaped death since I’ve known her and she still swears she’s not superwoman. I’d rather think of her as our angel than superwoman and that God just isn’t ready to take her yet- she still has things to accomplish and people to be here for. I told her that she isn’t going anywhere anytime soon- and if she does die then I’m going to do whatever I can to bring her back- even if that means taking a crash course on ancient Egyptian and stealing the book of the dead to bring her back to life.

Thanks to everyone who has been supporting me (and her) through this.. she really is my angel and my hero. I love her to death and wouldn’t know what to do without her. I lost her once and I’m not losing her again.

On a lighter note…

I think Jo and I have decided to have a wedding Don’t quote me on that yet. Oh, and it’s going to be REALLY small, but don’t worry- lots of pics as always That’s all I’m going to say about it so he doesn’t thwap me!

I think that’s all that really happened today, I haven’t been on that much because I took a nap after classes and such.

2 shows with Vie tonight- one at Eleni’s (7pm) and one at Stardust (8pm). Come visit me and enjoy some music! Both venue’s are two of my favorites- both beautiful with some great people

Anyways- gotta start some homework and a long ass lab report that I have due tomorrow. I also have to pack seeing as I’m going home tomorrow for the weekend. Going to be a LONG night!

Sorry for the uber emo post before, I’m just in a weird place right now in real life (hence my complete absorption with SL and the new blog- well, more absorption than normal).

ANYWAYS! I was going to do this post last night but because my blog was down I couldn’t do it.

There are now three different clients out (made by LL) of SL with three different user interfaces. I tried out the Windlight client a week or two ago and actually really liked it (minus the placement of the stand up and release keys buttons but they’ve fixed those since then) and yesterday I downloaded the new Dazzle client.

(Note: this is a review of interfaces ONLY!)

So- we all know the normal interface so I’m going to review just the Windlight and Dazzle interfaces compared to the normal client and against each other.

First up: Windlight Client

Likes!

1. The new layout in general- it seems smoother and a bit more modern
2. The icons! Love the new icons at the top next to the land name- they redid them to new pictures so it’s very obvious what they are without having to click on them to get a description. Also like the new icons for music/video/sound- they just look nicer.
3. I like how the stand up and release keys are hovering a bit above the chat bar. A lot of people don’t like this, but I do, and since this is my blog just deal
4. Though not in the picture- the new snapshot view is nice. You can choose whether to show or hide some options, with a few new features. I love taking pics in SL so it’s really nice.

Dislikes of Windlight:

1. I did say I LIKED the icons at the top- and how they are easily interpreted- what I don’t like about them is you can’t see the little red circles to show that you can’t do it in that area. They could either be bigger or a brighter red.
2. I lag like hell. I know this has nothing to do with the interface but it’s why I don’t use windlight- my puter is one big FAIL (yay for getting into gaming AFTER I get my puter…. laptop + dell = EPIC FAIL!)

I think that’s basically it. I LOVE the Windlight Interface… I would use it as my regular client if I didn’t lag to death. I know a lot of the things are “unneeded” but I like change, sometimes things can be improved to enjoy SL more, and sometimes tweaking little things like the interface can do just that

On to Dazzle!

Likes:

1. Icon changes! There are minor changes to the land ones from windlight- and they made the signs lighter red! WTG Lindens you did something right! Not only that, but the icons in inventory have changed and look so much cooler! They also put pictures on all the buttons for search/fly/snapshot etc which I like, even though it seems a tad “idiot friendly” I still like it.
2. It seems much more n00b friendly. Between the new pictures and such it’s a lot more easy to navigate your way around things. It does seem redundant to those of us who have been in SL forever, but if I was starting out in SL and used the normal interface, I would have such a problem trying to figure out what everything is- whereas in this one it’s like “oh duh- you click THAT!”
3. The new tab things when you’re in “Picks” category in profile. They look cooler with that slant than the edges being round.

Dislikes:

1. Local chat is back in communicate with IMs. I hated that when they put it out when they first released voice, and I hate it now. Get rid of it- it’s obnoxious and seems to just be confusing having local chat in an IM!
2. All the pointy edges. I know it’s supposed to look modern- and I kind of like it on the buttons- but not so much the name tags or chat box. Looks nicer with rounded edges. (Besides- with all these pointy edges someone is bound to get hurt- I mean imagine taking one of those name tag corners in the eye!! OUCH!)
3. The color. I like the light blue buttons but there is just WAY TOO MUCH blue. I like blue, but this is like drowning in blue (almost like how Jo, Danni, and Reina drown themselves in purple except 10 times worse). I liked the gray boxes for like IM and inventory and stuff in the old client, it’s more of a ‘neutral’ color rather than everywhere you look there’s more of the same color, just different shades. If you want to make the client more colorful pick more than one color other than blue- because at this point I’m just drowning in it!

Likes shared by both Windlight and Dazzle:

1. The info button above the partner window in your profile. This feature ROCKS! At least for those of us who are profile whores. It’s so much easier now to stalk people now that you don’t have to open up search and look for their partner and see what he/she is like and what they wrote about whoever’s profile you looked at first etc etc. Yay! Stalking made easy!
2. The new talk button is teh awesomez! I love how you can click the arrow to the left of it to see if you’re in a private call (and with who) or in main chat. This is nice for those of us who pay no attention to the blue boxes come up that tell you you’ve been disconnected (or you missed it)

So those are my likes and dislikes of the new clients.

Who wins for me you may ask?

None. There are likes and dislikes of all of them, and many features I could swap around and put into one hybrid client. For now, I’ll probably stick with the normal client because I lag like hell in Windlight and the new color scheme of Dazzle I just want to stab. Luckily, these are only trial clients and not necessarily going to be what the normal client looks like, so stay tuned for updates via Linden Labs! Hopefully they work all the quirks out so they can please the general population of us who spend way too much time in our SLife.

Okay, I am sooooo happy blog is back YAY!. They were moving the site over from one server to another so blog was down. Apparently it was inaccessible last night because the person changing the dns details was changing the details while drunk. He has now been banned *from* doing that.w00t!

Anyways, the past two days has been DRAMA DRAMA DRAMA!

Let me explain a tad.

First on the plate is Cee:

I ranted about her already in my last post, but yesterday Jakyl had the balls to IM me about her. He was like saying how he cares about her and he is dealing with her. Well dude, that ain’t my problem, he doesn’t have to deal with her. He was also saying she was getting “verified” within a couple hours. HUH?! How the fuck is she going to get verified? SHE’S 16 YEARS OLD! If they verify her there will be a minor in a grid that is supposed to ban minors. Tell me how this works? Besides, if they DID verify her they could get majorly sued and get tons of shit about it- because you all know that I’m going to make a point to EVERYONE that they are now verifying minors in the adult grid.

So- I told Jakyl to have fun with the baby. He is now muted and I disowned him in Tiny Empires. YAY \o/

If I never hear from either of them ever again I’ll be a happy camper.

Second on the list is Nite/Tracy:

Most of you know the insane relationship I have had with him the past few months. Well, guess what.

It’s over.

As he pointed out in the first email I’ve received from him in almost two weeks that I partnered with Jo. Ye, I did. Good job. A+ captain obvious. And, as I told him, Jo is the ‘light’ at the end of a very long and dark ‘tunnel’. I wish I got out of that relationship sooner. I have spent too many nights crying over him because I didn’t hear from him for days on end.

I know I pissed off a TON of people by getting together with him (between Olive and his RL now ex wife Jelly) and I can’t say how sorry I am. But, at the same time, if he was anything like he was with me with Jelly, then I really don’t blame her for wanting to split with him. He would tell me all these horrid things about her and blah blah and I won’t lie, I read her blog, I still do. I believe there’s two sides for every story, and I’m sure she probably wouldn’t give it to me for everything, I figured reading her blog would give me a bit of insight to how she really is. Although she rarely posts about RL, her personality still shows through despite whether the posts are about SL or RL. She’s a very happy person and fun (or seems so by reading her blog- I’ve only met her once), and although the blog is hard to read at times with all her Jelly-isms (getting better at deciphering those) it’s actually really good. I’ve also now been reading the Mean Girls blog as well as Are We Not Men? (which I’m waiting for another post dudes- you’re slacking) and both are fun to read. I strongly suggest checking both out if you have free time (that is, if you haven’t heard about them already).

In conclusion, it’s over and I never want to hear about the relationship about him and I again. kthxbai!

Third is real life school:

ZOMG! I got my genetics and physics test back today! and HOLY SHIT! I got a 79 on my genetics test and a 68 on my physics test.

I know you are thinking, “68 ain’t that great Alex” but it really is. He grades with having a 60-79 as a ‘C’ so I got a C! Woot! That’s also a better score than any of the physics tests I had last semester, and this semester is supposed to be harder. I know, I’m backwards, nothing I can do about it.

Also had room health and safety inspections today and I passed

Had physical therapy yesterday too. She gave me ankle/arm exercises (last time she gave me leg stuffage) and then this thera-putty stuff to play with to work out my hands. I think I may have played with it a tad too much last night because my hands hurt like hell today. Although, many paper towels were saved last night because I was playing with the stuff. (I have to be doing something with my hands all the time- even if I’m on the puter, so stuff usually either ends up being drawn on or ripped up)

Oh, and I hope school is canceled tonight and then again tomorrow. We’re supposed to get MORE snow. Another 4-8 inches apparently. I really don’t mind snow as long as I don’t have to shovel it and it gets me out of stuff (like class).

I think that’s all I really wanted to say. I hope it is because my fingers/hands hurt like hell.

Baiiiiiiiii!

Today was an interesting day, kinda sorta. There was a ton of drama, I always have drama going on, but there seemed to be an escalated amount today.

The whole thing with Akasha and mom happened, but I won’t rant about that since I already did in my last post. Mom also disowned Cee today, and Cee had the balls to say that it was our loss not hers. Ummm, yeah, not really. All mom and I lost was her drama, whereas Cee lost two people that took care of her and watched out for her. Cee was also planning on moving in with mom once she turned 18, obviously that isn’t going to happen now! Oh, and I also reported all three of her avies since she’s under 16. I should have done it ages ago but I promised I wouldn’t. Well, with her gone that promise doesn’t mean anything. She said they won’t because she has that she’s over 18 in her profile and blah blah blah, but that really doesn’t mean anything because people can easily lie.

She also said that the teen grid and main grid is coming together in June. Well, Jo and I did some digging in the Linden Blog and found nothing. Not only was there nothing on the blog, but that sounds totally bogus anyways. Why would they do that? There’s too many places teens should never see on the main grid, not to mention they’d probably be slapped with lawsuits and it would have been all over the media by now. If I’m wrong about this someone please leave a comment with a link to prove me wrong, but I have a feeling she was just saying it since I told her she will probably get kicked off the main grid. The only way that that could sound possible is if Lindens get the age verification working, which it’s not at the moment since I failed twice, I put both my drivers license and social security number in, and neither worked.

Anyways, done with ranting, have done too much of that in the blog lately and I probably sound like a complete bitch for it, and I’m not, at least I don’t think I am!

Had a show with Vie today at Rum Runners club. We are there every Sunday apparently, and every Sunday I’m going to have to put sounds on mute because of flipping gesture spam. I wouldn’t suggest going there to anyone unless you want to lose your sanity. Club in general wasn’t done very well either, stage is small and textures in most places were either too plain or just ugly. The people that worked there seemed nice enough when they weren’t spamming the chat with gestures.

After that I interviewed Lailanni and Kylie for my project for one of my classes. I sent them a note card with questions and then gave them a bunch of open ended topics to rant about. I obviously won’t go into detail on what they said for privacy reasons. The project is all about life experiences, comparing the life of teens now to when they grew up etc. People in the class signed up for either interviewing people in late adolescence, early adulthood, middle adulthood, or late adulthood. I chose early adulthood since most of my friends are in that. It was fun talking to them. I had to do a powerpoint and a 5 page paper. Oh, and did I mention this is due tomorrow? Yay procrastination \o/.  Luckily, everything is done now! I work fast

I also have a lab report due on Friday. Last week it was tests, this week reports. Sometimes school just plain sucks! Everyone schedules things at the same time!

I also got an email telling me that the server my blog is on is under maintenance transferring things from one server to a newer server, so anything I write here may not be here when the work is done, so I’m going to save this and repost it in a few days if it goes poof!

Anyways, time to get ready for bed since Jo and I could both use sleep!

Baiiiiiiiii!

Ok soooooo found out a couple hours ago that my ex-mom Akasha is coming back. For those of you that know the story are probably worried that I will now go on a mass target fire rampage… which I would LOVE to do but I really don’t feel like getting kicked out of SL anytime soon.

Yah know, her coming back is not the reason I’m fired up. I’m fired up because my mom, who I love more than life and would kill anyone for, is thinking about taking her back, in which case I am done with the family period. End of story.

For those that don’t know the story here’s basically what happened. My mom Kylie and ex mom Akasha were partnered when my alt Annie was adopted by them. It was great. They were both awesome and spent all this time with me and loved me more than anything else. Then Akasha changed. She started lieing and started to severely dislike me because it was obvious that I favored Kylie over her. Obviously I favored Kylie, Akasha would rather spend time with her friends than spend time with the family whereas Kylie would rather spend time with us kids than anything else.

I started going on Alex more because of this, and for other reasons like getting my own daughters back etc.

Then one night I get online after a fab night out with a RL friend and Akasha tells me that Kylie is in a coma in the hospital in RL and they are pulling the plug. Even though this shouldn’t have been that big of a shock given Kylie’s RL problems, it still just knocked me over and sent me into an immediate crying episode that lasted for days on end.

After that, things just went downhill fast. Akasha wouldn’t talk to Cee (my ex SL sis) or myself, her and Colleen wouldn’t let either of us speak at her memorial service in SL. Akasha had the balls to tell Brenden that I never cared about mom at all. So Cee and I decided we should probably just leave Akasha. I was half undecided because I didn’t want to leave Brenden with the bitch, but Cee told Akasha anyways that her and I were leaving.

I get this nasty IM from her saying that she’s just as sick in RL and has bronchitis and going through chemo. BULLSHIT! They won’t go near you with chemotherapy when you have a simple cold, nevermind bronchitis. So I called her out and then shit hit the fan between her and then Colleen bitching me out.

Anyways, a month later we all find out that Kylie isn’t dead, her stupid husband in RL (who is Brenden) came in and told us she was dead- she was in a coma for a week and should have died but she came out of it. She didn’t even know she was ‘dead’ in SL until she got home from the hospital.

So yes. If mom ends up going back with Akasha I am outta the family like white on rice on a paper plate. I don’t care anymore, I’m not dealing with the drama. I love my mom Kylie more than life and will still probably be her daughter on Alex- but Annie will either get a new family or stay in hibernation. I won’t go anywhere near Akasha because we all know I will take advantage of my awesome force prophecy and mysti tool powers.

Akasha- if you’ve seen this- be warned- you hurt Kylie again and you won’t live to see another day in SL. That’s not a threat- that’s a promise.

So, had another show today with Vienna at Club Charades (which is a fairly nice club and everyone should check it out) and I’ve noticed that there is something in particular that is really pissing me off that never used to happen during live music.

Gestures.

Yes, gestures. I have a plethora of them, and use a few often. Would I use them constantly during live music? No way in hell. I find gestures, moreso the ones that make noise, to be absolutely obnoxious and rude during live events. I always have to turn down sound when I go to any concert, whether I’m dancing with Vie or enjoying another singer, and this should not have to happen.

Gestures completely take away from the show. You go from listening to the music to going, holy crap what is that sound and who is doing it. It’s unneeded at concerts, other than applauses. Gestures are fine between songs etc (such as clapping, woohooos, hoos, woots, etc) but while the person is singing it’s just obnoxious.

I can understand the gestures that the hosts or club owners use to tell people to tip and blah blah. Those are fine because they never usually have sounds involved, but those with sounds and played mid-song just make me want to set the person who played it on fire.

OH, and those gestures that take up the entire screen? Yeah. Those should be banned from SL entirely. It is IMPOSSIBLE to follow chat when people keep playing these gestures that take up 20 lines of chat. Completely unneeded and pointless. Oh yes, it’s so nice that you either acquired or made a gesture that creates a heart out of @’s but ffs we don’t need to see it every 5 minutes.

There are some singers that I refuse to go see because all people do at the shows is play gestures. It completely turns me off and I will even come in at the very last second if a person like that is playing before Vienna is up on stage. If said artist is after Vienna I am out of that venue like white on rice on a paper plate.

In conclusion… gestures during live music events = FAIL!

Be respectful to both other listeners AND the artist! I’m sure they would rather have the attendees hearing them than your stupid gestures!

Helllloooooooo!

Tonight was pretty good. Went to The Shelter for a bit then home to work on the blog. All new theme and sidebar stuffage. Let me know what you think.

Had Vienna’s concert at 8pmSLT at Cuddlers Cove. I love that place! It’s SOOOO beautiful! We dance there every week and I always go snapshot crazy. Concert itself went well, Vie sounded good tonight. I LOVED her version of “Hanging by a Moment” from Lifehouse. Will have to tell her to do it tomorrow as well. New dancer tomorrow night, we’ll see how that goes!
